Using a combination of bosonization techniques and Reptation Quantum Monte Carlo simulation, we have studied the Luttinger liquid state of a one-dimensional gas of dipolar bosons. At low density, the behavior of the density correlations is similar to that of a free one-dimensional Fermi gas. As density is increased, a strongly repulsive regime is obtained with a Luttinger exponent lower than one. We discuss the evolution of the breathing modes of a dipolar gas in a harmonic trap as a function of density at the center of the trap based on theseresults.
